C&W Appliance Service: Appliance Repair Independents

When the American colonists got fed up with Great Britain, they decided to break away. Representatives of the 13 colonies joined together and signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, forming the United States of America. Here’s my take on their motivation – the colonists didn’t like paying for a big name brand (Great Britain) without a warranty or service (being afforded basic unalienable rights such as Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness).

C&W Appliance Service appreciates the value of independence. Our company was founded when two appliance repair technicians who worked for the same company brought in high returns but knew they could do better. In 1957 Chuck Gregory and my father, Wayne Thompson, left their employer and established a new business with two trucks and no employees. Their reputation for hard work and top-notch service attracted the attention of major appliance dealers at that time, including Admiral Services, Amana Appliances and White’s Auto Stores.

Over the years, the company evolved to supply appliance parts as well as service. Chuck decided to exit the business and sold his half of the company to my father around the same time that many of the firms they represented closed or merged. Spurred by adversity, Dad worked harder and looked for ways to help the company grow.

Partnerships with Top Performers

With a reputation built on expertise in appliance repair, C&W Appliance Service began to develop partnerships with the world’s best appliance manufacturers. Independence allowed us to pick and choose which companies to represent. C&W Appliance Service is the only Sub-Zero Premier Partner and factory certified Sub-Zero & Wolf appliance repair service provider in Dallas, Fort Worth and San Antonio. We also service Scotsman, Asko, Hoshizaki and many others. These are companies that stand behind their warranties and support their service partners with continuing education and quality parts.

Customers Come First

But what has kept us in business for more than 60 years is the value we place on our customers. As an independent company, we can service almost every brand of appliance in your home. C&W Appliance Service has been working with some families for almost as long as we’ve been in business. In fact, we have multiple generations of customers. That’s because we don’t just fix broken appliances; we build relationships.

Our company spans a generation as well. More than a decade ago, I joined my father in the business with a promise to uphold the principles that have guided the company through the years – keeping abreast of new technology, placing an emphasis on continuing education for our technicians, maintaining high standards of business ethics, respecting employees and business accounts, and putting our customers first.

Today we’ve grown to more than 20 trucks, 20 technicians, and a host of other support personnel in Dallas, Fort Worth and San Antonio. But no matter how large we become, we recognize that independence is the key to our success. We realize that our customers need one company to count on for all of their appliance service needs. Just like the people of this great country are proud to be American, we want our customers to be proud of us and the service we provide.
