Seven Decades of Doing the Right Thing.
Since 1958, C&W Appliance Service has been helping families and businesses throughout Texas keep their most important appliances running reliably. What began as a small, family-owned business has grown into one of Texas’ most respected appliance service organizations—all while remaining grounded in the values that inspired its founders nearly seventy years ago.
C&W was founded on July 5, 1958, by lifelong friends Wayne Thompson and Chuck Gregory. Both had become the highest-producing appliance service technicians at the same company, but they believed they could build something better. They purchased a small appliance service business, became equal partners, and opened their doors with just two trucks, working from Wayne’s garage in Pleasant Grove, Texas.
The early years demanded extraordinary perseverance. Wayne and Chuck routinely worked 12- to 18-hour days—often seven days a week—repairing appliances, installing window air conditioners, answering service calls, and doing whatever was necessary to build a reputation one customer at a time. Success wasn’t immediate, but their commitment to quality workmanship, honesty, and customer service quickly earned the trust of homeowners and manufacturers alike.
That reputation soon attracted major appliance manufacturers. Admiral selected C&W as both an authorized service company and a regional appliance parts distributor, allowing the business to move from Wayne’s garage into its first commercial facility. As the company continued to grow, Wayne focused on leading the business while Chuck built the company’s technical foundation, creating a culture centered on craftsmanship, professionalism, and taking care of every customer.
Over the years, C&W earned the confidence of many of the industry’s leading manufacturers, including Frigidaire, Amana, Philco, and others. As the business expanded, so did its facilities, capabilities, and reputation throughout North Texas.
Like every successful company with a long history, C&W also faced significant challenges. Industry consolidation and changing manufacturer relationships resulted in the loss of several major accounts almost overnight. Rather than accept defeat, Wayne responded with determination. He spent countless hours knocking on doors, meeting prospective customers, and building new relationships.
Within weeks, the business had regained its momentum. That resilience—meeting challenges head-on and earning every opportunity—remains part of C&W’s culture today.
As the appliance industry evolved, so did C&W. The company expanded into appliance parts distribution, embraced emerging technologies, and invested heavily in technical education and manufacturer partnerships. When luxury appliances became increasingly popular, C&W positioned itself at the forefront of the industry by becoming an authorized service provider for premium brands such as Sub-Zero, Wolf, Cove, True Residential, and many other leading manufacturers.
Leadership eventually transitioned from Wayne Thompson to his son, David Thompson, who has continued to build upon the foundation established by his father. Under David’s leadership, C&W has embraced modern technology, expanded its factory training programs, strengthened manufacturer partnerships, and continued the company’s unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service while preserving the integrity and family values that have defined the business since 1958.
Today, C&W Appliance Service proudly serves homeowners, builders, designers, property managers, and commercial customers throughout Texas. By combining nearly seven decades of experience with industry-leading technology, factory-certified technicians, and one of the most comprehensive luxury appliance service organizations in Texas, C&W continues to set the standard for professional appliance service.
While appliances have changed dramatically over the past 70 years, our guiding principles have not.
We believe in doing the right thing—even when no one is watching.
We believe in treating every customer’s home and/or worksite with respect.
We believe in investing in the very best people, training, and technology.
We believe in standing behind our work and earning trust through honesty, professionalism, and exceptional service.
Those values guided Wayne Thompson and Chuck Gregory in 1958, and they continue to guide every member of our team today.
For nearly seven decades, our mission has remained remarkably simple: deliver exceptional service, build lasting relationships, and as Wayne reminded us often, “Always Do the Right Thing. Always.”
