Can you believe it? C & W Appliance has been serving customers in Texas for 60 years this coming July!
In honor of our 60th anniversary, we would like to share the triumphant story of our journey, from humble beginnings to hard times, and then onward to the top!
This is how we started.
Best friends Wayne Thompson and Chuck Gregory were working as technicians for the same company when they started C & W Appliance in Wayne’s garage in 1958. For the next four years, the partners worked almost all day, every day repairing appliances and installing AC units with two men and two trucks.
When Admiral services asked the team to distribute parts across the southern U.S., the team was able to move out of the garage, allowing C & W to expand to larger and larger facilities. Business ran smoothly until things took a turn for the worse.
You could say it was a domino effect, but it was actually a series of unrelated events that occurred at the same time. When Chuck sold his shares in the company, many of C & W’s account holders sold out to other companies. C & W was left with almost no customers, and the business was treading on thin ice.
Not to be intimidated by a challenge, Wayne set out to knock on doors and make cold calls. Within a month, the business was back on its feet, and Wayne started his own parts department. The service’s ten trucks and technicians were back on the road, with Frigidaire as a major component of the business.
In 1987, C & W allied with top appliances Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Asko, and the business grew even more. When Wayne Thompson’s son, David, took the reigns as president and Ceo, he shared his commitment to quality, integrity, and customer service that characterized the business.
“It is only through adversity that you can achieve victory,” Thompson says. “My father taught me that.”
C & W Appliance continues to provide reliable service to our customers in Dallas- Ft. Worth- San Antonio- Austin- Central Texas area.
If you need an appliance repaired, we’re proudly still the people to call.
